Chemical peels are one of the oldest cosmetic procedures performed dating back to the ancient Egyptian times when natural acids derived from fruit and milk were applied to the skin. As Knowledge and science have advanced, we now use far more sophisticated treatments to treat a variety of skin conditions.

We use COSMED peels in our clinic, Cosmed uses traditional acids and more modern ingredients to offer unique formula’s and aid skin health.

How It Works

The skin peel is applied to the surface of the skin to carefully remove the outer layers, the depth of peel is determined by the amount of time left on the skin and the amount of layers applied and can range from superficial (into the epidermis) to  medium depth (into the dermis) the deeper the peel the better the results but also the greater the risk of downtime and possible complications.

Consultation

A free no obligation skin consultation is offered before treatment to discuss your needs and suitability for treatment with one of our experienced nurse prescribers, at this appointment we will address your particular areas of concerns and together we will form a treatment plan. Should you choose to go ahead, subject to a full medical history, you can have treatment on the same day.

Treatment Areas

Chemical peels  can be carried out anywhere on the body, however the most common areas are:

  • Face, neck and décolletage

  • Hands

We use the following peels:

Derma Peel -Hydrating and Brightening

Suitable for all skin types, specifically formulated to use in conjunction with dermaplanning. Lactic, Phytic and Kojic acids are powerful tyrosinase inhibitors and antioxidants.

The Dermapeel gives patients a mega watt glow with minimal downtime, highly effective on dry skin thanks to the Lactic acid.

Regen Peel – Regenrates and Rejuvenates

This is a skin remodelling peel, comparable to TCA peel but with a greater safety profile, Pyruvic acid hydrolyses into lactic acid giving all the benefits of a medium depth peel but without the risk and irritation. The Regen peel address’s multiple skin concerns including photo-damage, acne, moderate scars, sun damage.

As a keto-acid it helps to regulate sebum and has a anti-microbial action, therefore indicated for all types of acne, post acne damage and oily skin.

Restore Peel – repairs and restores

Mandelic acid has a unique antibiotic action and maintains the skin’s acid mantle which inhibits the growth of p.acne bacteria. Restore peel regulates oil production, increases cell turnover and improves texture, pigmentation and acne.

It is safe and effective on darker skin tones and is ideal to prep the skin prior to heat treatments such as laser, plasma. Helps reduce rosacea and strengths the barrier function of the skin.
